Resizing images is everyday work for the web, social media and documents — but done carelessly it leaves photos stretched or blurry. A few principles keep your images looking right.
Respect the aspect ratio
Always scale width and height together to preserve proportions. Changing one without the other squashes or stretches the subject. Most tools offer a “lock aspect ratio” option for exactly this reason.
Downscale, do not upscale
Shrinking an image keeps it crisp. Enlarging beyond the original resolution invents pixels and looks soft, so start from the highest-quality source you have.
Resize privately in your browser
Drop in an image, set your target dimensions, and download the resized version — all processed locally with no upload.
