When to use uppercase

Uppercase earns its place in short bursts: SKUs, reference codes, table headers, warning labels and acronyms. It is a poor choice for body copy, because readers rely on the shape of lowercase words to read quickly, and capitals flatten every word into the same rectangle.

A note on shouting

In email and chat, a full sentence in capitals reads as raised voice. If you want emphasis in prose, bold or italic carries it without the tone. Reserve uppercase for labels, not for sentences.

Domande Frequenti

Does it change numbers or punctuation?
No. Digits, spaces and punctuation pass through untouched — only letters are affected, so codes like "ab-1234" become "AB-1234" with the structure intact.
Does it work with accented and non-Latin letters?
Yes. Accented Latin characters are capitalised correctly (é becomes É), and scripts without letter case — Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese — are returned unchanged, as they should be.
How do I undo it?
Uppercasing discards the original capitalisation, so it cannot be reversed exactly. Run the result through Sentence case to get readable text back, or keep a copy of the original before converting.
